Some emo bands are Panic at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Yellowcard, Dashoboard Confessional, etc. Emo music is usually kinda punk-poppy, if that makes sense.

From what I know...the term stands for EMOtional music. More like shitty music...if you ask me. Its a form of punk rock and it is really popular amongst the teenage crowd. People that dress EMO usually look like a weak version of Goth. Kids talking about slitting their wrists and guys wearing eye make up. But then again I am not a teen so Im sure im going to be corrected.

Like I say: Goth wannabes. They are quite shallow about what they think. Their philosophy is "it's raining, I'm quite depressed, life sucks" but have a great loving and caring family, quite a good monetary income with no debts, girls or boys bow down to their feet but still they are always down. Dunno I kind of feel sorry for them (yeah and the other part of me wants to trade places with them so that they can live in a third world country and to live miserably among corruption and gangs, maybe that way they could be down for a REAL reason)

Hi I am Ella B. About a year or two ago I was wondering the same question coz like everyone knew its meaning..... everyone apart from me and it was so embarrising. Bassically an emo is like a really over board version of a goth. A person who is an emo will wear black and dye thier hair black and they are the ones that hang out in the plaza here in Aussie with metal spikes coming out of leather bands. People think of emos as depressed sort of people as they always seem to look so sad, but personally I don't know how they really feel as I don't know one personally. i would say you are. I am emo and i relate alot to you, i cut myself like a few times, but after that i started doing other things, Unintentionally i have scars on my wrists for having gumbands squeezing my wrist, and i liked how they looked, so i did it to my ankles. now i avoid doing things like that.

I understand where you're coming from, my mom is basically clueless to the teen styles/social classes. EMO is short for emotional. at an age of changing hormones and fighting to fit in, if ppl don't find a place in the social chain where they can fit in, then they often start to block out alot of the world around them and try to seek shelter inside their mind hoping somehow they'll find a friend. EMO kids usually wear kind of a mix of rocker/punk/goth clothing but not full strand to either one. like a typical emo kid would prolly have a black shirt sporting a heavy metal band or just skulls flames and stuff like that, dark colored jeans usually tight, wristbands to their elbows, spikey dyed hair, and other dark colored accessories. hope after you get through decoding all of my ramblings that this helps.

The easiest way to attract an emo girl? Simply grow out your hair. All of my best friends used to be "emo", and the FIRST thing they noticed about a guy was his hair. I've known many emo girls, and they all like long-haired guys.

Where to meet them? Emo band shows. Definitely. Girls there are often looking for potential mates at concerts. But this is because they want to meet guys similar to them...if you don't like the music, then it kind of defeats the purpose.

emo is a fashion. I was a punk back in the 80's and we had straight edge people who were Christians. Actually a lot of Christians now That I think about it. I wasn't at the time.

As for your being depressed come on. In order to be depressed you must hold your body in a certain way, breath shallow, make your face look all depressed and sad, and best of all you must think of the worst things you can imagine. Clearly this is taking a lot of effort. You must want to be like this other wise you wouldn't go to such trouble to create this effect?

The answer is yes. You can believe in God and be emo. I used to be emo too, and I still believed in God. However, question your reasoning for being emo. Are you doing it because that is who you are, or are you doing it to fit in? I used to do it to fit in, and now I realize that it just looks stupid. Not to say that it looks stupid on you, but I just think that emo people show their emotion through clothes, bracelets, etc. whereas other people keep their emotions locked inside. If you are just being you, then God could never be mad at you. However, if you have a guilty conscience, chances are that you aren't being emo for the right reasons. Think about it. And PRAY. 2 - The unrelated Gothic subculture is made up of mostly christians, athiests come in second, there, they are commonly considered much "darker" then emos, it is stupid to assume subculture matters to religion.

This girl I like has been going well with her friends and most of the guy ones she gets along best are mostly emo. She goes to a different campus than I do. Thanks to the help of Myspace, I can barely have her talk to me DEEPLY just because she considers us "friends". I need help to become "close friends" without penetrating that "girlfriend" border. And most of the time I've been considered the "nerdy" guy but when I'm with her I don't feel like "so and so... the Nerd" but more like "so and so... the guy".
